Round Table Dedicated to Yuri Grigorovich

The X International Competition «Young Ballet of the World» is dedicated to the memory of its founder, permanent Artistic Director, and choreographer, Yuri Grigorovich.

As part of the Competition, a round table entitled Yuri Grigorovich Ballet Theatre: Traditions and the Development of Stage Art was held. The event brought together members of the Jury, teachers, participants, and guests of the Competition.

The discussion was moderated by Valeria Uralskaya, Professor and Editor-in-Chief of Ballet magazine.

“The round table is devoted to the phenomenon of the 20th century — Yuri Nikolayevich Grigorovich. Together we tried to explore, in a scholarly yet heartfelt way, the essence of his greatness and the secret of the Grigorovich Theatre, through the experience of the remarkable personalities that make up our Jury — among them his colleagues, students, and artists who worked with him.

Grigorovich’s path was never easy. It was important for us to reveal what stands behind this figure who defined the development of world ballet in the second half of the 20th century,” noted Valeria Uralskaya.

More detailed materials from the round table will be published in the upcoming issue of Ballet magazine.
