Sochi to Host the X Yuri Grigorovich International Competition

The X Yuri Grigorovich International Competition Young Ballet of the World will take place from October 6 to 12, 2025, at the Winter Theatre in Sochi. It will be dedicated to the memory of the great choreographer of our time and the competition’s permanent Artistic Director, Yuri Grigorovich. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. Organizers: ROSCONCERT and the International Federation of Ballet Competitions.

For future generations of dancers and choreographers, he will remain an unquestioned authority and a guiding example. Today the Young Ballet of the World Competition continues the mission of this great master. Each year it brings new names to the world stage and offers young talents a unique opportunity to realize their potential», –  noted the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.

More than 100 applications were submitted from Russia, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Slovenia, South Korea, Japan, Paraguay, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, and Kyrgyzstan. Based on the results of the preliminary round, 70 young artists will take part in the competition performances.

The jury will include prominent figures of choreographic art from Russia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Italy, Turkey, and Korea.

As tradition dictates, the competition will open with a performance by the Yuri Grigorovich Krasnodar Ballet Theatre. On the stage of the Winter Theatre, the legendary ballet Spartacus choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich will be presented. The solo parts will be performed by Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina, People’s Artist of Russia Anna Nikulina, and Bolshoi Theatre premier Igor Tsvirko.
