X Yuri Grigorovich International Competition «Young Ballet of the World»
The competition was launched in 2006 with the aim of discovering individual talent and drawing attention to the artistry of young performers. Its foundation rests on the classical heritage and the preservation of priceless ballet traditions.

The competition has welcomed participants from Russia, Belarus, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Kazakhstan, Spain, the United States, Japan, and many other countries.
By the Sea
The event traditionally takes place in Sochi, the resort city on the Black Sea in the Krasnodar region, whose atmosphere and climate inspire contestants.

The X Yuri Grigorovich International Competition «Young Ballet of the World» will be dedicated to the memory of the great choreographer of our time. Competition rounds will be held in two age categories.
Yuri Grigorovich
People’s Artist of the USSR, choreographer of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, President of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, Hero of Socialist Labor, Laureate of the Lenin Prize and State Prize of the USSR, academician, professor.
A distinguished Russian choreographer and graduate of the St Petersburg School of Classical Ballet, he began his career as a soloist with the Kirov Opera and Ballet Theatre.
In 1995 he founded the Yuri Grigorovich Ballet Theatre, based in Krasnodar and actively touring internationally.
For many years he chaired the juries of international ballet competitions in Russia, Japan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Italy, Finland, the United States, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, China, as well as the Benois de la Danse Prize.
In 2005 he was elected President of the newly established International Federation of Ballet Competitions. He also served as President of the International Union of Choreographers. He was the recipient of numerous state decorations, creative awards, and honors in the field of art and culture worldwide. Since 2008 he had been a choreographer of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia.
