Yuri GRIGOROVICH 
 Yuri Grigorovich, the outstanding Russian choreographer, graduate of the Petersburg school of Russian classical ballet, began his career as soloist at the Theatre of Kirov where he was later to mount his first important choreographic works Stone Flower by S. Prokofiev and Legend of Love by A. Melikov. These productions made Grigorovich's name as a choreographer and started new trends that, for many years, determined the development of the Russian ballet. For over 30 years (1964-1995), Yuri Grigorovich was chief choreographer of the Bolshoi Theatre. These were the years of the company's greatest artistic achievements when it won a world-wide reputation. Under Grigorovich the Bolshoy Ballet Company performed in over 90 foreign tours, bringing world fame to the company's brilliant galaxy of soloists. The ballets Grigorovich created at the Bolshoi made him world famous. They include: Thaikovsky's Nutcracker (1966), Spartacus by A. Khachaturyan (1968), Ivan The Terrible S. Prokofiev (1975), Angara A. Eshpay (1976), Romeo and Juliet S. Prokofiev (1979, 2010), The Golden Age D. Shostakovich (1982, 2006). He also choreographed new versions of such masterpieces of the past as The Sleeping Beauty (1963,1973) and Swan Lake (1969, 2001), Raymonda (1984, 2003), Giselle (1987), La Bayadere (1991), Don Quixote and Le Corsaire (1994). Yuri Grigorovich has staged his ballets in Stockholm, Rome, Paris, Copenhagen, Vienna, Milano, Helsinki, Ankara, Prague, Sofia, Genova, Warsaw, Seul. In 1990 he founded a new company Grigirovich-Ballet. From 1996 on he choreographed for different companies in Ufa, Krasnodar, Omsk, Ekaterinbourg, Kishinev, Kiev, Minsk. Grigorovich was the chairman of the juries at international ballet competitions in Russia, Japan, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Italy, Finland, USA, Switzerland, Austria, Turkеy, China and he is the Chairman of the Benois de la Danse award. In 2005 he was elected President of the International Federation of ballet competitions. He is also a Member of the Vienna Music Society, the Honorable Chairman of the International Theatre Institute, the President of the International Union of Choreography and honorable Chairman of the Ukrainian Dance Academy. In 1996 Grigorovich became the Artistic director of The Yuri Grigorovich Theatre of Ballet in Krasnodar (Russia). This company toured in many countries: Lebanon, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Italy, Turkey, USA, Germany, Great Britain. In 2008 he came back at the Bolshoy Theatre as a residence Choreograph.
